Sound Activities
Counting Sounds
Give children a word and then ask them to count the number of sounds in that word.
Remember, children are counting the sounds in the words, not the letters. The number of sounds in a word may be less than the number of letters.
Say the Sounds
Give children a word and encourage them to say the individual sounds in the word.
Glue the Sounds
Give children the individual sounds in a word, ask them to glue the sounds together to say the whole word.
